Detective Smith works at the Murfreesboro Police Department and is a federally sworn Task Force Officer with the United States Secret Service in Nashville, Tennessee. Most of his work at the Secret Service involves working with the Electronic Crimes Special Agent Program (ESCAP). He has completed hundreds of hours of training at the United States Secret Service’s National Computer Forensics Institute in Hoover, Alabama specializing in Basic Computer Evidence Recovery Techniques (BCERT), Mac Forensics Techniques (MFT), Advanced Forensic Techniques (AFT), Network Intrusion Response Program (NITRO), and Undercover Online Investigations (UCO) in addition to several cybercrime conferences across the country
